Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. - 1 John 2:15
There is a viral quote on the Internet - “It’s not about the destination; it’s about the journey.”
There was a time when I agreed - and even lived by - that philosophy.
But I disagree now.
It’s not that I think we shouldn’t enjoy our lives on earth; my devout faith only changed my perspective. The destination IS important, because it’s ultimately where each of us will spend our eternity. While the journey is important, our main focus must stay on the destination. The journey is only about choosing where our path will lead us. None of us are exempt from having to make that choice. It’s not a complicated choice, but it’s the most important choice we’ll ever make:
Heaven - where we will be in the joyous presence of our LORD, OR
hell - a place of unimaginable torment, eternally separated from our LORD
Now…considering our journey will lead us to only one of those two places, doesn’t that make the destination MORE important?
