If you’ve ever been around someone who gives off a bad vibe, something you can’t quite put your finger on, it’s a warning. It’s not your gut or your instinct, but a God-given sign to steer clear. He tells us, through the Holy Spirit’s discernment, when to avoid certain people, and we are commanded to listen to His warning.
What are the qualities of people we should avoid? They:
mock the Lord and scoff at our belief in Him.
encourage or pressure us to sin, and ridicule us when we don’t give in.
tell adult-oriented jokes or stories in our presence.
blaspheme the Lord and His name.
turn a blind eye to the sin of other people.
believe in and or teach false doctrine.
sow division in our relationships.
gossip about other people.
listen to music, watch TV shows/movies or read books that glorify sin.
exhibit hateful behavior towards other people.
idolize worldly things above the Lord.
embrace their sin, without regard to how it affects their relationship with God or other people.
continually draw us into arguments about anything and everything.
exploit our weaknesses and trauma.
exhibit greed, pride, lust, envy, and/or wrath
To clarify, we must always be Christ-like in our interactions with everyone, but what I’m talking about here is avoiding potential stumbling blocks. This means forming a close relationship with anyone who might disrupt our walk with the Lord. Our primary focus must always be God-centered, and fully supported by our loved ones.
Does it mean burning bridges? It depends. As Christians, we understand that the Lord’s terms are non-negotiable, and we choose to obey His will, above all else. We must then make His terms mandatory in all of our relationships. Those who agree with and support those terms will not be our stumbling blocks; those who ignore the terms and purposely try to tempt us into sin must be avoided at all costs.
God bless! ✝️❤️

Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? - 2 Corinthians 6:14
