The Truth Will Set You Free
John 8:31-36
Things are not always as they seem in this fallen world. When Adam fell from grace, the world became corrupt, chaotic, and confusing. Satan’s mission was always to separate us from God, and he does so by sowing doubt in and confusion over God’s Word.
Mocking Christians for their beliefs or starting arguments just to “rile them up” is not the flex you think it is.
The reality is - you’re mocking God and sinning by trying to cause Christians to stumble. You’re only affecting your own soul by going against the only One who has the authority to decide where YOU spend eternity. If He says, “I never knew you, depart from Me,” what follows is eternal separation from Him, and once you’re there, you can’t leave.
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a person sows, this he will also reap. - Galatians 6:7
Now He said to His disciples, “It is inevitable that stumbling blocks come, but woe to one through whom they come! It is better for him if a millstone is hung around his neck and he is thrown into the sea, than that he may cause one of these little ones to sin. - Luke 17:1-2
Avoiding or withdrawing from Christian family members/friends
because you don’t want to have the hard conversations about God and His standard of morality is not the “peace” you think it is.
The truth is, when Christian family members/friends talk about the gospel, they’re being prompted by God through His Spirit to do so. Out of love, they’re warning everyone about the wages of sin because they don’t want their loved ones to experience eternal suffering. It’s not out of judgment - only God judges. By denying the gospel, you’re committing the unforgivable sin - blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. You’re willfully choosing to stand against God, and if you die an unbeliever, you will never know peace again. Ever.
Relying on religion is not the relationship with God you think it is.
Every religion was established by people who didn’t agree with God’s Word, and decided to mislead people away from God. All man-made religion is a worldly, satanic construct that echoes what the serpent said in the Garden of Eden - “Has God really said...?” You’re putting your faith in an institution who decided God’s Word is flawed and is feeding you lies to separate you from Him.
Hands in the air, eyes closed, swaying to music is not the worship you think it is.
It doesn’t matter how long you spend in that sort of “worship”. It doesn’t matter how “uplifted” you feel. Worship that is devoid of the gospel message of humility, faith, repentance, and obedience is unacceptable worship. Worship that is followed by more sin is unacceptable worship. If you’re not in a church learning from an expository teacher with your Bible open in front of you, it’s unacceptable worship. Music is acceptable worship as long as it glorifies God, AND doesn’t replace time spent in God’s Word.
Saying the rosary or novenas, praying to Mary and the saints is not the prayer you think it is.
Prayer that involves repetitious, scripted words is idolatrous. If you’re praying more to the virgin mother than you are to God, you’re breaking the 1st and 2nd Commandment forbidding other gods and idolatry.
And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. - Matthew 6:7
Confession followed by sin is not the forgiveness you think it is.
Confession to a priest is an ongoing ritual that does nothing at all. It only makes people dependent upon the church, based on fear. It doesn’t “cleanse” your soul. A man cannot absolve your sins because he too is a sinner. The only One who can forgive sins is our perfect and holy God. Jesus did not sin when He came into this world. He is our High Priest and the only One who has the authority to forgive. He knows our heart and whether we’re truly repentant. Further, confessing sin without the intent to turn away from it is not true repentance. True repentance means agreeing with God about the grievousness of our sin, and hating it because He does.
The brief moments of enjoyment or pleasure from sin are not the value you think they are.
Just because the consequences of sin may not “seem” immediate doesn’t mean they aren’t. God chastens sin. Even more importantly, our next breath is not promised. Some of us don’t have the luxury of time to get right with God. If we die unrepentant in our sin, we don’t get second chances. There are no do-overs or appeals for mercy or a change in His judgment. The bottom line is, if we continually choose sin over God, He will grant us eternal consequences. There’s no party in hell. No music. No dancing. Eternal separation from God is not worth the payoff we get from sin.
The thoughts or conversations you have about other people in their absence are not as private as you think they are.
God hears everything {whether or not you believe in Him}. Everyone will be judged according to thoughts, words, and actions. Disparaging other people is a sin. Gossip is a sin. Sowing division between people, based on your opinion of them, is a sin. If you have an issue with someone, you’re commanded to resolve that issue directly with that person. Inviting other people to share your anger towards or disdain is putting a stumbling block in front of them.
Individual truth that’s based on emotion is not the truth you think it is.
Everyone cannot have their own truth. If someone lives their life as though God doesn’t exist and declares it to be “their truth”, then it’s false. I can’t go into a bank and claim that my balance is $1million because it’s what I believe to be true. I can’t go into a hospital and claim that I’m a neurosurgeon because I believe I am, and therefore be allowed to operate on patients. The only absolute truth is God’s truth. There MUST be an absolute truth to measure thoughts, words, and reality. Truth is not subjective. Man has no authority to dictate truth because he disagrees with God. God does not lie. Satan is the father of lies. Everything that goes against God’s Word is a lie perpetrated by Satan, who plays on emotions to cause chaos.
“Free will”, and the accompanying belief that “since God gave us free will, we can do what we please” is not the freedom you think it is.
Freedom is not about being able to live the way we want without authority. We are free to commit sin, but we’re not free from the consequences of our sin. Choosing sin keeps us in bondage. True freedom is God’s gift of salvation that leads to the inheritance of His eternal kingdom in His glorious presence.
Free will does not free you. Freedom to make your own choices does not mean freedom from the consequences. In fact, we are bound to the consequences of our choices, however long they may last. The biggest consequence of all, resulting from denying God, lasts an eternity.
The Bible is absolute truth. Read it. Study it. Live by it.
God bless! ✝️🤍🙏🏻
So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly My disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been enslaved to anyone; how is it that You say, ‘You will become free’?”
Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. Now the slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever. So if the Son sets you free, you really will be free.” - John 8:31-36
